The Review:

Toronto has become overwhelmed with the number of hardcore/sludge metal bands in the city. It is hard for any band to stand out, but Harangue has managed to with their hardcore intensity of Cursed, and their grooved oriented riffs. Harangue’s magic comes through their ability of playing on and off the beat at any given moment, keeping the listener off-balance compared to their normal expectations of the genre.

Nihilism” is their most focused and concentrated release yet. Each song focuses on the most potent riff, and builds from there. Each song feels fully fleshed out without overstaying its welcome on any particular idea. This makes the EP a piece that you will want to revisit over and over again.

Overall, this EP is meant to be listened to as one complete thought. Each song seamlessly flows from one track to the next, and shows a type of restraint and nuance few hardcore bands can match.
